ARTIST's BIOGRAPHY

Although he has been abroad for over 43 years, Rory remains a true Italian down to his DNA and is proud of it.

Rory, now retired from active business life, has covered top Management positions for over 43 years in Asia on behalf of Italian State Controlled Multinational Groups and Italian Financial Institutions. In 2006, he founded Marco Polo Integrated Services, Shanghai, of which, still nowadays, is the President and the C.E.O. with the scope of helping Italian Companies relocate to China. But his true passion, in fact a major part of his life,  has been and nowadays still is, photography.

At 13 years of age, young Rory already holds an old Contax camera in his hands. At 19, he upgrades his camera with the legendary Nikon F2 Photomic followed, through the years, by the Nikons F3, F4, F5, F90x, Olimpus OM 10 to finally land in 2007 in the digital world with the Nikon D2x and now with both fantastic Nikon D3 and D3x.

Photography, especially human and action photography, is a part of his existence and his own very way of interpreting life in a fashion in which a humanist photographer should candidly catch, in the shortest time frame, all of its temporal aspects of happiness and sorrow.

In his 42 over years of Asia, its collections "stolen images" (stolen from life to be immortalized on paper) 1-2-3-4-5 were exhibited in as many exhibitions at the Nikon Gallery Hong Kong ('78), the Italian Embassy in Beijing ('81), the American Club in Tokyo ('87), Giovenzana Gallery in Milan ('93), the Rome Francesco Conti Gallery ('95), the Metropark Shanghai ('08-'09) and, currently, at the most prestigious Racquet and Apts Club Shanghai ('09 and presently) on a long-term basis.

Rory is the only foreign photographer to be honorary member of the prestigious Chinese CFPA based in Beijing present throughout China with more than 21 offices in as many Provinces. As of 19 December 2008 his membership number is 34,382 out of  the 40,216 overall total number of active members. As a fully recognized photographer member of the CFPA, Rory now holds the official Chinese press pass.
